Volgren is proud to support South Australia’s transition to zero-emission public transport, with the first of 60 new battery electric buses now delivered for Adelaide Metro.

The new buses follow the South Australian Government’s commitment to cleaner, quieter and more reliable services for Adelaide commuters. They will replace ageing diesel vehicles and help reduce emissions across the network.

The fleet features Volgren’s Optimus body — a lightweight, aluminium-structured design engineered to optimise energy efficiency and maximise range for battery electric buses. The Optimus body combines strength and durability with reduced overall bus weight, resulting in lower operating costs and more efficient use of battery charge. Its design also simplifies maintenance and supports consistent performance — ideal for intensive urban bus operations.

Our work in South Australia is about more than supplying vehicles. Through our service facility, we provide ongoing support for the state’s fleet, including parts and technical assistance.

We’re pleased to continue our partnership with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and our South Australian operator partners as they expand their zero-emission bus fleet.

Volgren looks forward to the continued rollout of these battery electric buses and to playing an ongoing role in the decarbonisation of public transport in South Australia.
