Foodbank Victoria
When Foodbank Victoria and Kinetic presented the idea of a mobile supermarket to Volgren we immediately said yes. Our engineering team went to work converting a Volgren bodied, 18-metre articulate bus (ex-Skybus) giving it a second life of providing free food to vulnerable Victorians across Melbourne.
With entry at the back and exit at the front, the vehicles have purpose-built shelving and refrigeration stocked with a range of fresh produce, pantry and staple items.
The first bus was such a success, that a second mobile supermarket hit the road in May 2022.
