Volgren continues to play a leading role in Australia’s transition to cleaner and higher-capacity public transport, delivering new zero-emission and advanced transport solutions across the country.

In New South Wales, Volgren is currently delivering 95 battery-electric buses for Transport for NSW, operated by Transit Systems Australia. Built locally in Victoria in partnership with BYD’s electric chassis platform, the first buses are scheduled to enter service in April, with deliveries continuing throughout the year.

This project builds on Volgren’s growing portfolio of zero-emission vehicles across NSW, including 22 battery-electric buses delivered to Busways in 2025 using the Volvo electric platform.

The company’s expansion into zero-emission technology has accelerated significantly. In 2025 alone, more than 150 electric buses were built, and by the end of 2026 over 600 zero-emission buses with Volgren bodies are expected to be operating nationally. These include battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles across multiple platforms.

Volgren CEO Thiago Deiro said the company’s approach combines Australian manufacturing expertise with global technology partnerships.

“A key part of Volgren’s strategy has been working closely with global chassis manufacturers who are leaders in electric drivetrains, battery systems and high-voltage technology,” Deiro said.

“Our vision is to remain Australia’s most reliable and trusted bus body manufacturer. By combining decades of Australian manufacturing experience with proven global zero-emission platforms, we can provide operators with vehicles that are both innovative and dependable.”

Volgren has now delivered zero-emission buses across multiple platforms, including battery-electric and hydrogen models from Volvo, BYD, Yutong, Scania, Wrightbus and King Long, giving operators flexibility as fleets transition away from diesel.

Across its national manufacturing network, Volgren continues to support the rollout of electric buses in multiple states. In Western Australia, the company recently delivered the 100th electric bus built on the Volvo BZL platform for the Public Transport Authority at its Malaga facility, which has been fully converted into a dedicated electric bus production hub.

In South Australia, more than 30 battery-electric buses built on the Scania BEV platform have already been delivered as part of a larger 95-bus order for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. Meanwhile, close to 50 Volgren electric buses are currently operating in passenger service in Queensland.

Beyond zero-emission technology, Volgren is also delivering high-capacity transport solutions to NSW, with 50 articulated buses currently under construction at its Brisbane facility to support growing passenger demand in urban networks.

To support the expanding fleet of vehicles nationwide, Volgren has continued to strengthen its aftersales and service network. The company recently opened its South Australian facility, complementing existing operations in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.

With more than 10,500 buses built over 47 years, Volgren provides operators with a full range of support services including maintenance, refurbishment, upgrades and custom aftermarket solutions designed to maximise fleet reliability and lifespan.

Volgren is also bringing new technology to the coach and charter sector. The company recently delivered Australia’s first Marcopolo Generation 8 (G8) coach to Australia Wide Coaches in NSW, following its Australian launch last year.

The Generation 8 platform represents the latest evolution in coach design, combining improved passenger comfort, enhanced safety systems and greater operational efficiency. With more than 5,000 units already operating globally, its introduction marks a significant step forward for the Australian touring and long-distance transport market.

With the continued rollout of zero-emission buses, high-capacity articulated vehicles and next-generation coach technology, Volgren is helping shape the future of passenger transport in Australia—combining global innovation with local manufacturing expertise to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable mobility solutions nationwide.
