Volgren continues to grow its footprint in South Australia, supporting local operators with reliable Australian-built bus bodies, practical on-the-ground capability, and long-term support that keeps fleets performing at their best. With recent deliveries underway and an operational service presence now established in Adelaide, Volgren is backing South Australian operators with both product and support—where and when it matters.
Supporting South Australia’s fleet transition: hybrid today, zero-emission tomorrow
Volgren’s growing South Australian capability also supports the state’s broader fleet transition—backing operators as they introduce new technologies while maintaining the reliability and whole-of-life support required for day-to-day service delivery. Volgren has built and delivered 40 hybrid buses into South Australia, and is supplying 90 battery-electric buses, with deliveries commencing in late 2025 and continuing through early 2026 as the rollout progresses. Volgren also confirmed the first battery-electric vehicles were delivered for Adelaide Metro in December 2025, marking the start of a progressive rollout.
A key element of this electric supply is Volgren’s Optimus body—a lightweight, aluminium-structured design engineered to improve energy efficiency and help maximise range—supporting more efficient use of battery charge while simplifying maintenance for intensive urban operations. With hybrid fleets already in service and battery-electric deliveries now progressing, Volgren’s focus is on delivering vehicles that perform in day-to-day operation—and ensuring the support structure is in place locally to sustain that performance over the long term. Backed by Volgren’s Adelaide capability, operators can transition to new technology with confidence, knowing parts, warranty support, and technical expertise are close to home as these fleets expand across the state.
Supporting school transport across regional South Australia
As part of this growing presence, Volgren is proud to be supplying 28 Endura school buses for the South Australian Department for Education, supporting safe and dependable transport outcomes for regional students.
Delivered on the Volvo B8R Euro 6 chassis and featuring Volgren’s Endura body, the fleet is engineered for durability and consistent performance in demanding school and regional operating conditions—supporting reliable day-to-day service while keeping maintenance and repairability front of mind. That whole-of-life focus extends beyond manufacture and delivery, and into the local support we provide once vehicles are on the road.
The capability behind the build: local aftersales support in Pennington
Just as important as delivery is what happens after vehicles enter service—particularly for school and regional operators where reliability, uptime and responsive support directly impact communities. Volgren’s Pennington facility has been established to provide that local capability, including:
- Volgren and Marcopolo product and warranty support
- Full body repairs
- Parts and components supply for Volgren and Marcopolo models
- 15+ work bays and a 25-metre spray booth to support repair throughput and turnaround times
For operators, this translates to simpler access to parts, faster response times, and confidence that technical expertise is available locally—backed by Volgren’s national experience and long-standing commitment to Australian public transport.
A long-term local presence
Volgren’s growth in South Australia represents more than geographic expansion—it reflects a long-term commitment to supporting the state’s operators with dependable build quality and responsive local support as fleets evolve and service expectations continue to rise.
Whether supporting regional school services with robust Endura vehicles, enabling operators with local repair and warranty capability in Pennington, or supplying the next generation of hybrid and battery-electric buses, Volgren is committed to being present in South Australia for the long term—supporting local operators with practical capability, strong aftersales backing, and a continued focus on improving public transport outcomes across the state.
